Born: 5 November 1944.

Education: Gratduated from the Law School of the University of Iceland in 1971. Gardar holds a diploma for his studies in International Trade and Business Transactions from the University of Minnesota (1983-1984) and from the University of California, Davis, in the years 1993, 1997 and 1998. Gardar has a degree in Business Administration from the University in Iceland and is a certified real-estate and vessel broker. Gardar was admitted to the bar as a District Court Attorney in 1973 and as a Supreme Court Attorney in 1984.

Career: Attorney from 1971.

Other activities: Gardar has had a seat on the following committees and boards: A board member of a board to implement total reforms on the judicial system in Iceland in 1989 – 1992. Chairman of “The Commission of the Higher paid” in 1997- 2006 (Alternate member since 1993). Chairman of the Arbitration Court in accordance with Act No. 34/2001. Appointed by the Minster of Health and Public Insurance as the Chairman of his “Board of Negotiators” 2002-2006. Chairman of the Board of many software and fishing companies.

Teaching and research: Gardar has lectures at the Law Faculty of the University in Iceland.

Pracice areas: Contracting and contract law, corporate law, commercial law and energy law.
